About Me

Leigh Ellen means "meadow" and "light".

I chose this name to honor my parents. My dad's glass collection inspired me to create unique candles with fragrances that feel like home.

I poured my first candle from a kit I received as a gift during Christmas of 2022. My boyfriend and I thought it would be fun to refill all the used candle jars we had given each other over the years. We made messy candles that were crackly on top, had sideways wicks, weak fragrances, and melted unevenly!

But when I was offered the chance to sell at a friend's store during a local event, I began measuring my wax on a kitchen scale, watched the temperature when I poured, and had so much fun creating a fragrance theme based on North Carolina regions from mountains to sea! Joy came from gifting sample candles to friends as occasions sprung up, like birthdays, baby showers, new jobs, and even bitter-sweet goodbyes. Healing came from rummaging through my parent's basement to find unique vintage glass to fill with the fragrance and light of a candle. I even began browsing antique stores like my dad! Learning a new craft, researching small business, and finding self-expression through creativity are what have brought us Meadow Light Candle Company. I'm glad you're here!
